The ACE Curriculum!
The letters ACE stand for Accelerated Christian Education – an individualized education curriculum that puts God at the centre and emphasizes godly character. The founders of the ACE curriculum recognized that children are unique and learn in different ways. That's why they have developed educational tools that equip children to live wisely, think critically, and act responsibly.
Each unit of instruction in the curriculum is structured to include all three life application levels of the learning process: knowledge, understanding and wisdom. A number of distinctives set A.C.E apart from other educational programmes. These distinguishing features focus on what is best for the individual child, and, after all, that should be the primary concern of education.
Students who are more skilled may progress at a faster rate or may accelerate in the areas of their academic strengths. Slower students are encouraged to do their best but are able to work at their levels of proficiency and proceed as they are capable.
Each core subject consists of 12 PACEs per level. Typical students work daily on one PACE in each subject and may be performing at varying levels. The diagnostic test results help to place a student at their level of performance. Most students complete at least 70 PACEs per year while maintaining academic balance by completing about the same number of PACEs in each assigned subject.
With its foundational concepts being used now for over 50 years around the world, it is understandable why A.C.E. is known as THE learning tool for today—and the future!
Electives and Additional Instruction Programs
In order to enhance the core curriculum, A.C.E. offers a number of other program opportunities and courses beneficial to academic growth and development. Each of these courses adds interest and enhancement to the core curriculum and to other learning activities.
What Is A PACE?
A.C.E. School of Tomorrow® has taken the conventional style textbook and divided it into bite-sized, achievable worktexts called PACEs. Each PACE is similar to a unit in a textbook. Each level consists of 12 PACEs in each subject. PACEs integrate Godly character-building lessons into the academic content, and self-instructional activities are carefully designed to develop thinking skills and create mastery learning.
A.C.E. stands out from other curriculum providers with its individualized, self-instructional, mastery-based approach. With minimal assistance, PACEs allow students to absorb subject material according to their own learning ability rather than being pushed forward or held back by their age. For instance, a student placed in the fifth grade by a conventional school may be taking PACEs in Level 4 math, Level 5 science, and Level 5 English in the A.C.E. program. Students may move ahead in some subject areas and proceed at a slower pace in others.
Inside A PACE?
Students begin their PACE work by noting their goals, the concepts they will learn, a Bible verse, and a corresponding character trait. From the beginning of each PACE, they know what is expected and assume the responsibility for their own learning!
Throughout the curriculum, the introduction of new vocabulary words is computer controlled so that no new vocabulary word is used without the student first learning its meaning and pronunciation. Also, these words are repeated to ensure mastery.
Explanations and illustrations add excitement to each lesson, and innovative learning activities reinforce the text material.
Each PACE contains several Checkups, which are quizzes covering a section of the PACE. If mastery in an area is not achieved, the Checkup will reveal that weak area. Students can then take the time necessary to review and learn those concepts before proceeding to the next section.
Upon completion of the activities and Checkups, students prepare to take the Self Test. Here students evaluate themselves, and a supervisor/tutor determines readiness for the final PACE Test. When the Self Test is successfully completed, the student turns in the PACE and takes the PACE Test the next school morning. The PACE Test objectively measures student mastery of the material.
Pace Numbering
If you have a student in the first level taking Math, their first PACE number is 1001. They must complete 12 Math PACEs to finish the first level. Therefore, they will take Math PACEs 1001–1012. Then in the second level, they will continue and take 1013–1024.

Please remember that levels may vary according to the student’s ability. Students are encouraged to do their best while working at their own proficiency level and proceeding as they are capable. Many students complete around 72 PACEs in one academic year.
PACE numbering system chart reflects the A.C.E. system of referring to each grade as a curriculum level. Since a student is not categorized as being in a specific conventional (chronological) grade level of work, he may be working on a different level in each of his subjects. PACEs are only marked with numbers. No grade level is ever used. High school electives are not identified with specific levels (grades); however, some courses have prerequisites, such as Algebra I before Physical Science.
